Stop the Violence in Gaza - The United Nations has called for both sides to end the violence, and U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has roundly condemned both sides: Hamas for the rocket fire and Israel for its "excessive use of force" in retaliating.  The current death toll in Gaza now exceeds 400, which includes innocent civilians and children along with militants. Others will die because the two-year seige has left hospitals ill-equiped.

Jewish-American and Palestinian-American Peace Groups are calling for a cease-fire. Americans for Peace Now (APN) and the American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP) have issued calls for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza by Israelis and Palestinians and they are urging the US Government to use its influence to make this happen.

We must speak out against the violence. Sign J Street's petition to demand that the United States intervene to bring about an immediate resumption of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.  The petition numbers are used in conversations with President-elect Obama's transition team and Congressional leaders - the more signatures, the  better a case can be made for an immediate ceasefire. So sign now!
