Congress holds the power of the purse. WE THE PEOPLE must make our voices heard! For the fiscal year beginning October 1, Congress will budget and spend nearly 5 times as much as the "stimulus package" Congress enacted. For many years, over half of all the money Congress allocates each year has been going to war, arms and bases, and interest on money borrowed for war. Not counting wars, the military budget expanded 40% under President Bush. Unless PEOPLES' voices are heard, Congress will pass an even larger military budget and cut social services.
US Representatives from NEO Ohio and both US Senators from Ohio have been invited to attend.
FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. ALL ARE WELCOME!
Light refreshments at 5 pm
Sponsors include Women Speak Out for Peace and Justice, United Church of Christ, Jobs with Justice, Cleveland Peace Action, NEO Ohio American Friends Service Committee, InterReligious Task Force, Black on Black Crime
