New Priorities Campaign - Our mission is to fundamentally change Federal budget priorities, reducing military spending in order to fund communities and reduce the deficit. What the New Priorities Campaign Is Doing:
1. Asking NE Ohio City Councils/Local Governments to pass resolutions calling for new Federal budget priorities. Take a look at our sample resolution. Using the well-respected National Priorities Project as a data source, we can document just how much each local communities spends, to fund the U.S. military and current wars. See list of places that have passed resolutions. In June 2011, the U.S. Conference of Mayors passed a resolution calling for an early end to the wars and a re-investment in domestic job creation - read press release
2. Ohio Legislators Letter to Ohio Congressional Delegation. We thank Senator Nina Turner for taking the lead.
3. Citizen messages to Congress. Congress is hearing from us via postcards, petitions, phone calls, emails.
4. Public education. We are presenting our eye-opening presentation, Our Taxes Off to War, to local groups. Invite us to present to your group.
5. Collaboration with local activist groups to Bring the War Dollars Home.
